Braai Rub Beef Recipes - Ox tail Potjie - Stan Morris
Ox tail Potjie Recipe
Use no4 potjie
- 2kg ox tail
- ½ bottle red wine
- 2 tbl spoons crushed garlic
- 3 beef stock cubes
- 100ml worstershire sauce
- 1 tbl spoon Italian herbs
- 2 tbl spoons of "braai rub"
- 1 litre of cold water
- 2 large red onions
- 2 large white onions
- 1 pkt baby potatoes
- 1 pkt potjie kos mix veg (from PnP)
- 1 pkt sliced mushrooms
- 175ml olive oil
Method:
1. Heat the oil in the pot and fry onions and garlic together.
2. Add the ox tail, turning until well browned.
3. In a mixing jug Add stock cubes, worstershire sauce, herbs and "braai rub" to the water, mix well and leave to stand.
4. Add red wine to the meat and stir a few times. Replace lid and allow to cook for 20 minutes.
5. Stir the meat and add ½ the sauce mix until the meat is covered.
6. Replace lid an leave to cook for 1 hour. Add more sauce mix as it reduces.
7. Stir once and add potatoes...if needed add a little water.
8. Cook for 30minutes.
9. Stir once and add the packet of potjie veg. Add the rest of the sauce. Cook for 30minutes.
10. Open...DO NOT STIR....THE Potjie is ready to serve with basmati rice.
